Challenge
· The way a company treats employees and how employees treat one another can positively affect their actions, or can place an organization at risk
· Based on over 50 years of employee engagement research, Gallup® has proven that engaged employees produce better business outcomes than other employees
· Color Communications Innovations (CCI) installed new management in 2018 and conducted its first engagement survey which revealed the troubling news: there were just as many disengaged employees as engaged
· Correspondingly, business results were substandard and had been trending down for years
Solution
· CCI embarked on an aggressive employee engagement improvement program
· The plan included improvements in professional supervisory tools, equipment safety upgrades, implementing a preventative maintenance program for critical equipment, and creating a “value add” team on the shop floor to identify ways to significantly improve operational performance
Results
· From 2018 to 2022 engaged employees have increased by 50% while disengaged employees have decreased by 60%
· Virtually all business metrics have improved – the best example is on-time shipping which went from 70% to 98%
