Sustainable Practices
At CCI, we make sure our processes are as environmentally friendly as possible.
Water Based Paint
98% of our work is done in water-based paint which is 95% VOC free. VOC stands for 'Volatile Organic Compounds', which have a high vapor pressure and low water solubility. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals, and refrigerants. Breathing VOCs can irritate the eyes, nose and throat, can cause difficulty breathing and nausea, and can damage the central nervous system as well as other organs. Some VOCs can cause cancer. At CCI we minimise use of solvent paint and constrain their use to a certain industrial colors / finishes only.
As a result of our paint’s low VOC’s, our emissions are greatly reduced, as we don’t rely on vast amounts of energy to burn off the VOC’s prior to emission into the atmosphere, thus reducing our carbon footprint.
Responsibly sourced paper and ink
Everything we coat or print on is graded by either the FSC or the PEFC. The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) sets specific standards that must be met by suppliers in the timber trade. The PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an umbrella brand incorporating different national certification schemes. The goal of both bodies is the same: both provide schemes to protect forests and ensure end-users get the responsibly sourced timber and paper products they requested. We print with vegetable oil based ink & aqueous clear coat.
Recycling for the Environment
We approach recycling with the same commitment to excellence that we apply to our manufacturing processes: we don’t tolerate any half-measures or token gestures. We recycle all our paper waste.
All our steel drums and aluminum plates are recycled. All our plastic wrapping is recycled.
Due to our proximity to our North American logistics center (Chicago), our impact on shipping time is greatly lowered, reducing our carbon footprint even more.
Future programs currently in the pipeline include generating power from solar panels to subsidize our energy usage and harvesting rain water to make our paint with.
Thanks to our environmentally responsible approach our customers can honestly and confidently claim that their marketing material is produced in an ethical, sustainable way by an environmentally conscious supplier
